Acupuncture is one of the main therapies of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It can be combined with herbs or constitute the main treatment modality, depending on the illness. Acupuncture works by regulating the energy flow that fuels the nervous system, internal organ function, and hormonal balance. As such, it has a very broad range of applications.
The World Health Organization (WHO) of the United Nations lists more than 40 diseases for which acupuncture has shown clinical effectiveness. They include migraine, injury, sciatica, colitis, ulcers, asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis and more.
For skin disease, acupuncture is only administered if it is necessary to address a co-existing problem which may make the skin worse. Examples might be anxiety, depression, insomnia, severe digestive difficulties or menstrual symptoms.
The TCM Skin Clinic uses only sterile, disposable needles.
